This is how you make impact as an Operational Buyer Mechanical

Do you find it challenging to work with the purchasing team to find the most ideal solution for the customer and can you achieve even the impossible? Then the role of Operational Buyer is perfect for you! As an Operational Buyer, you look beyond the basic information from a list or a system and ensure that material availability matches the needs of internal and external customers. The purchasing team will train you and ensure you master the essence of our working methods and products.

Your daily responsibilities include

As an Operational Buyer, you are responsible for the timely and correct purchase of, among other things, the mechanical parts needed for producing our PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies) and Modules. Your main goal is to ensure timely material availability to start production on time and make this information available. Many purchasing orders are directly recorded in the system by various colleagues, and contracts have been made with our preferred suppliers. This means that you primarily ensure that the purchasing process runs smoothly and make adjustments where necessary.

The department has become more professional in recent years but is still developing. You will be expected to visit your suppliers and work with other Operational Buyers and category buyers.

Your Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Reviewing and processing purchase suggestions/forms into purchase orders in the ERP system, considering price, delivery time, and packaging unit.
  • Checking and processing order confirmations from suppliers in the ERP system.
  • Monitoring deliveries and proposing alternative products/suppliers if necessary.
  • Reviewing and executing rescheduling orders and adjusting priorities in consultation with planning.
  • Communicating and following up on forecasts to suppliers.
  • Proposing adjustments to order parameters.
  • Handling and preventing invoice discrepancies and quality issues.
  • Timely internal coordination with stakeholders in production and the Planning and Finance departments about emergencies and discrepancies.
  • Actively contributing to further professionalization of the department and independently participating in improvement projects.

This is what we offer

A warm working environment where personal contact is highly valued. We believe it is important for you to continue developing yourself, so we provide room for personal growth and the freedom to take your own initiatives.

Additionally, we offer:

  • 27 vacation days;
  • 13 additional days off;
  • Flexible start and end times in a day shift schedule;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Bicycle plan.

This is what you bring to the team

First and foremost, you are highly communicative and have a strong personality. You will regularly need to call suppliers and also coordinate internally to ensure the logistics process runs smoothly. You are creative in finding solutions and have a practical and entrepreneurial mindset. In your work, you know how to set the right priorities and perform your tasks effectively under pressure. You have an interest in technology and find the products we make for our diverse customer base to be an exciting field. Driven by intrinsic motivation, you are capable of suggesting improvements and are motivated to help colleagues and teammates.

We also require:

  • A vocational education (MBO) combined with several years of relevant work experience;
  • NEVI 1 or willingness to follow this training;
  • Affinity or experience with working with technical products;
  • Experience with ERP systems;
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
