This is how you make impact as a Senior EMC and Magnetic Components Engineer

As a Senior EMC and Magnetic Components Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the research, design, and implementation of electromagnetic compatibility solutions and magnetic components for our state-of-the-art (power) electronic products. Leveraging your expertise in EMC regulations and filter design, magnetic materials, and component design will be instrumental in the development of high-quality, reliable, compact, and efficient solutions in the fields of Smart Mobility, Semicon solutions, and Connectivity.

Your daily responsibilities include

  • Leading the design and optimization of EMC solutions for power electronic systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and mitigating electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  • Conducting electromagnetic modeling and simulation to analyze and optimize EMC performance, including conducted and radiated emissions and susceptibility.
  • Designing and optimizing magnetic components such as high-frequency inductors and transformers for power electronic converters.
  • Conducting detailed modeling and simulation of power electronic systems to evaluate and refine EMC filter solutions and magnetic components, and to optimize system performance.
  • Co-designing and testing power electronic converter circuits, including rectifiers, inverters/amplifiers, and (isolated) DC/DC converters based on latest component technologies.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to address and seamlessly integrate all aspects in the design process, including hardware, software, EMC, mechanics, DFx, functional safety, etc.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

As an EMC and Magnetic Component Engineer you are an expert in the electromagnetic domain and will contribute to developing and producing innovative (power) electronic solutions in our Strategic Power electronics Technology Line and our team of problem-solving enthusiasts. Collaborate with teammates to oversee the control aspect of our cutting-edge projects, acting as a liaison between customers and our department. You will be point of contact for project managers, system architects, domain designers and customers. In this role, you will coach project members in diverse, project-based work. You can think of projects in the fields of Smart Mobility, Semicon solutions, and Connectivity.

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, Power Electronics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in EMC and magnetic component design for power converters, with a strong understanding of EMC regulations and magnetic components/materials, and with a proven track record of successful project execution.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink/PLECS and Ansys Maxwell, or similar simulation tools.
  • Experience with magnetic component design and optimization, including magnetic circuit analysis, material/wire selection, and thermal analysis.
  • Knowledge of EMC testing methodologies and standards, such as FCC, CISPR, and IEC standards.
  • Strong understanding of power electronic devices and topologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
