This is how you make an impact

In this position, as an HSE Officer, you are the point of contact for all matters related to safety, environment, and compliance (SEC). You ensure that processes run safely and responsibly within our organization. You will lead projects such as implementing software to digitize reporting and act as the link between the emergency response organization, HRM, facility management, and the emergency response trainer.

After internal training and learning on the job, you will become our specialist in environmental legislation, including the implementation of the Environmental and Planning Act. You will coordinate the Safety Committee, in which production is prominently represented, and manage the Environmental Team, which includes representatives from Engineering, Facility Management, and the Works Council.

Together with these teams, you will look for ways to reduce waste and improve Neways’ ecological footprint. You will also draft the annual Sustainability Improvement Plan and ensure its execution and internal awareness. You will report directly to the Manufacturing Quality Team Lead.

What you bring to the team

  • a completed bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, supplemented with an MVK certification

  • at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably in a technical production environment

  • experience coordinating and conducting audits and workplace inspections is a plus

  • experience handling incidents

  • familiarity with quality management system standards such as ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO13485

  • knowledge of ISO50001 and ISO45001 is a plus

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English

  • a critical, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to engage colleagues in working safely and sustainably

Your daily responsibilities

As an HSE Officer, you work in a dynamic environment with plenty of room for improvement initiatives and independent action.

Your tasks include:

  • coordinating periodic updates of the Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RI&E)

  • coordinating and following up on incident reports

  • preparing reports for the Management Team

  • organizing and conducting periodic SEC audits and establishing actions for non-conformities

  • training employees in proper use of the Quality Management System (QMS)

  • reducing CO2 emissions based on the Environmental Aspects Register and coordinating improvement proposals

  • organizing and leading the Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team group meetings.
